Press Release Body = Total Access 5006 Paves Way for Next-Gen Services in Low to
Medium Line Density Environments

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(June 19, 2007)--ADTRAN, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADTN), a leading
supplier of next-generation network solutions, today announced the Total
Access 5006 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP). The Total
Access 5006 offers a pure Ethernet core with all of the functionality of the larger
Total Access 5000 Series, but only in a smaller form factor. The Total Access 5006
is ideally suited for low to medium line count environments and has been designed to
enable retrofit for existing cabinets.

The Total Access 5006 provides both next generation and legacy service interfaces,
easily supporting even the most bandwidth intensive applications. It provides a
scalable architecture that is designed to migrate with the network, providing
flexible copper and fiber termination options. The Total Access 5006 offers flexible
connectivity options into core networks, offering both Ethernet and ATM network
uplinks. The platform also includes support for TDM and VoIP switches. Its ability
to convert traditional voice and legacy data to IP provides carriers with a platform
that seamlessly integrates with next generation network standards.

\"The Total Access 5006 addresses an underserved market by allowing carriers to
cost-effectively reach customers in lower-density service areas," said Eric Vallone,
director of product management, ADTRAN Carrier Networks Division. \"The Total Access
5006 provides carriers with the unique ability to offer voice, data, and video
services in areas where traditional multi-service access options are not viable due
to economic, size, power or functionality obstacles.\"

"Carriers must find a way to deliver triple-play services to their entire customer
base in an efficient and cost effective manner. The ability to use existing
resources is paramount," said Teresa Mastrangelo, principal analyst, Broadband
Trends. "The Total Access 5006 is an ideal solution for service providers wishing to
extend their reach into remote areas. It allows them to use existing cabinets and
infrastructure to offer an abundance of services with minimal capital expenditure."

The Total Access 5006 provides up to 144 ports in a five rack-unit-high hardened
chassis. It can utilize any existing or future line card developed for the Total
Access 5000. It supports a wide range of network applications including IP DSLAM,
Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC), Fiber to the Node (FTTN), Fiber to the Premises
(FTTP), Metro Ethernet services, and network aggregation. Key global,
standards-based technologies, such as Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM), ADSL2+,
VDSL2, eSHDSL, Resilient Packet Ring (RPR), Pseudowire Emulation Edge-to-Edge
(PWE3), and Gigabit Passive Optical Networking (GPON) will be available.

The Total Access 5006 is supported by ADTRAN's Total Access Element Management
System (EMS) for integrated operational support. This industry-proven system
utilizes an all-Java architecture to provide configuration, performance, network
assurance, accounting, and security functions for the ADTRAN Total Access
and OPTI systems, and MX products.
